Loading Bay Operations Manager (Returns)

Location: London (NW10) | Salary: Based on experience, plus benefits | Contract: Permanent, Full time (Mon-Fri, 40 hr/wk)

The Role

We are seeking an experienced Loading Bay Operations Manager to oversee our returns (goods-in) workflow and lead a team of five within our London showroom and warehouse.

You’ll ensure the smooth processing, quality control, and maintenance of all inbound stock, working closely with the Loading Bay Logistics Manager (Despatch) to deliver an efficient, end-to-end hire process.

Reporting directly to the Directors, you will join the management team, contributing to wider business operations, development and company culture. This is a hands-on leadership role for someone highly-organised, detail-driven, and motivated by continuous improvement in a dynamic, creative environment.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee all inbound stock operations, ensuring timely, accurate, and safe processing.
  • Manage team performance and resource planning, adapting to changing deadlines and business requirements.
  • Maintain high quality standards through rigorous stock checks and coordination with the Stock & Repairs team.
  • Use data and on-site insights to identify and implement operational improvements.
  • Coordinate with management team during company transition to new hire software; champion use of new system in loading bay and troubleshoot as needed.
  • Oversee loading bay and equipment maintenance, liaising with external suppliers.
  • Conduct regular 1:1s, appraisals, and performance management for the returns team.
  • Recruit, develop, and motivate team members, fostering a culture of accountability and excellence.
  • Lead training and ensure adherence to company procedures, health and safety and quality standards.
  • Collaborate with management colleagues on business operations, HR, and company culture initiatives.
  • Champion company values, communication standards, and customer service excellence.

 

Skills & Experience

  • Minimum 3 years’ experience managing a warehouse, logistics or operations team.
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate and develop team members.
  • A proactive and practical approach; will roll sleeves up and lead by example.
  • Excellent organisational, planning and multitasking ability.
  • High attention to detail and commitment to quality control.
  • Analytical mindset with proven experience improving processes, and turning insights into actions.
  • Confident with warehouse/inventory management systems and data reporting.
  • Excellent communicator with collaborative working style.
  • Experience leading operational change or system transitions desirable.
  • Enthusiasm for working within a creative logistics company where no day is the same.
