Brutalist

GH, 2023

Our new Brutalist collection explores many key aspects of this striking design style: from industrial materials with raw finishes; heavy forms in stone, metal and concrete; to monolithic and structural shapes- and given a contemporary spin for today's interior.

Architectural silhouettes, heavy materials and a monochromatic colour palette create an impactful look. Combine with soft fabrics for a more contemporary take.

Sculptural and expressive elements- in textured stoneware and bronze- help to elevate a neutral palette. Finish off with a natural woven rug and hints of brass to soften the space.

We are brimming with Brutalist inspired smalls and accessories: from heavy monolithic shapes- to textural pottery and jagged bronze sculptures. Visit the amazing Smalls Department at our London showroom to find out more.

The Japanese American artist Isamu Noguchi (1904 – 1988) is famous for his delicate ‘Akari’ sculptures (akari meaning light in Japanese). Each piece is constructed from just paper, bamboo, metal and electrics - ‘…encompassing both illumination and weightlessness’* and epitomising luminosity.

Isamu championed accessible artwork for everyone and visualised his sculptures being appreciated in the homes of the general public - after all, who doesn't love a bit of mood lighting?
